The Marina in the city of Horta on the island of Faial is undoubtedly one of the most representative icons of the island of Faial. Marina da Horta, opened in 1986, is one of the busiest marinas in the world. For this reason, the tradition of yachtsmen or adventurers leaving a painting alluding to their vessel on the walls of the Marina is well known. According to legend, this act will take the boat safely to its destination.
Due to its excellent location, the Horta marina is an almost mandatory stopover for sailboats traveling from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean or vice versa, but what most attracts the marina is its paintings, the marina is completely covered of paintings made by the yatistas who visit it and who intend to leave their legacy, some more artistic than others but all with a unique identification
