It was built to host the 2000 Olympics.
The management of this sports complex is in the hands of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.
The area that the park occupies was previously a 640-hectare waste zone. Among its main facilities it has the Olympic Stadium, the Superdome, the International Aquatic Center and the Tennis Center, as well as natural attractions of the place.
The Olympic Stadium is where most of Sydney's sporting festivities take place. It is the largest stadium in Olympic history.
The International Aquatic Center, in this center the following disciplines are practiced: swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming. It has capacity for 4,400 spectators.
The Superdome, basketball, gymnastics, handball and volleyball competitions are held.
The Sydney Olympic Park is located in Homebush Bay, New South Wales, 14 kilometers from the city.
