Yellowstone National Park is located in the United States, northwest of the state of Wyoming. A small part of the park is located in the neighboring states of Idaho and Montana.



Yellowstone Park was declared an international biosphere reserve on October 26, 1976 and integrated into the UNESCO World Heritage Site on September 8, 1978. But in 1995, the Committee decided to put the park on the World Heritage List in danger. threatened by mining activities. Poor water quality, tourist crowds and snowmobiling were other reasons for concern. Following the efforts of the US government, the situation improved and the park was removed from the endangered heritage list in July 2003.

There are over 2000 places to camp. It is also possible to camp in the forests around the park and in the Grand Teton National Park, located a little further south. Some isolated campsites are also accessible on foot or by horse, but require a permit. There are about 1,770 km of excursion circuits. The park is not considered a destination for mountaineering due to the instability of volcanic rocks which therefore pose a danger.



Salt Lake City is located approximately 500 km south of the park and is the closest major urban area to the park.
