The story goes that the girl, after her death, appeared every day, at sunset, washing and singing at the fountain, which frightened the people and made no one there at that time.
The Source comes from a natural spring in the shape of a lemon where many people would come to quench their thirst. Nearby, about 1km away, there was another source, Godaneira, which they say had better water than Fonte Filipe.
These two sources supplied the neighboring populations of Amendoeira, Resinas, Carvalhal and part of S. Romão, and their waters were used for the irrigation of the existing cultures. The elders still say that at that time there was a guerilla (Guerrilla of the Malhadas) that from time to time hid in the source and frightened the people demanding them food.
The Fountain was rebuilt in 1945, with two arches and five gutters. Nowadays it is used for various leisure activities and for the celebration of the 1st of May.
Located in Querença.
The present Fonte Filipe is dated from the beginning of century XII and, at the time, was called Source of the Filipa because, they say the older ones, there was a young person called Filipa that lost there its life.
