Lamas, is one of the oldest cities in the Peruvian East, its population dates from time immemorial, beginning with the first primitive settlers who will migrate in oil fields established in various places that today are San Martín, among the ethnic groups that embrace this part. the jungle is in the Caribbean, Tupí Guarahies and Arawaks. These groups will adapt to their new form and will be appreciated in the different types of cultural manifestations found and preserved to date. The first was by Chancas, who could be defeated in the battle of Yahuarpampa by the Inca Pachacutec's troops in 1438, they abandoned their territory and went into the jungle, passing through several villages or family clans scattered throughout these areas to submit easily. .

General Ankoallo, leader of the strong Chancas, is considered the ethnic founder of the Lamas People who later became the capital of the community.
